That summer, we made a career out of being passengers. Three flights, six trains, four buses, and a ferry carried us from picturesque towns to natural wonders to bustling metropolises. From the moment we tasted the fresh forest air, we were ourselves again. Jackson forgot to unpack the iPad and Macy stopped stressing out about her BioChem final. Sam turned off his work email notifications and I put up a kind but firm ‘Out of Office’ message. We made this trip our own and took time to appreciate our kids. And although things were back to normal when we returned to the city—we’ll always treasure this moment and who we were in the mountains.
